Day 12: Love Keeps You Safe
“We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.” 1 John 5:18, NKJV
The Bible says when we don’t sin, when we keep ourselves in the love of God, the wicked one can’t touch us. That doesn’t mean we can’t ever miss it or make a mistake. Certainly, we’re going to make mistakes sometimes, but love covers that.
When we do sin and knowingly step out of love, we can get ourselves right back in it by quickly repenting and receiving cleansing from all unrighteousness. If we’ll do that, we can walk in love’s protection every moment of every day.
If we don’t…we won’t. That’s a sobering statement, but it’s true. When we get out of love and stay there, we remove our defense. We lower our barrier of protection and become vulnerable to the enemy’s assaults. That’s how the devil has gotten access into the lives of so many Christians. They have dropped their defenses, and he is able to touch them because they failed to walk in love.
Don’t ever let that happen to you. Don’t ever let a disagreement or someone’s mistreatment of you draw you out of love and into strife. Keep yourself in the love of God, and stay out of danger. Keep love’s impenetrable barrier in place over your life.
LOVE ASSIGNMENT: In every situation today, let Love guard your heart and guide your thoughts, speech and actions. If you find yourself tempted, quickly call on the love of God to keep you from making a mistake. When you focus on His Love for you and in you, sin doesn’t have a chance of success!
